About Me

WHOAMI

I’m Nevin Wijetunga — born in Sri Lanka, currently based in Canada — and I live at the intersection of curiosity and code. I’m a cybersecurity enthusiast, hands-on builder, and an innovative WordPress developer who loves turning ideas into functional, responsive, and secure websites. Whether it’s pentesting a network, building an IoT system, or crafting well-rounded websites, I’m always up for a good challenge.

Code. Hack. Build. Repeat.

From a young age, I was drawn to technology — whether it meant fixing someone else’s computer or troubleshooting my own late into the night. That curiosity turned into a passion, eventually leading me to pursue a BSc (Hons) in Computer Security at the University of Plymouth. I built my first full website using Adobe Dreamweaver, which sparked my interest in web development. Alongside coursework in cybersecurity and programming, I developed a strong foundation in cybersecurity, software development, and database systems, building projects like an Android Forensics Tool, a smart IoT-based trash monitoring system, and full-stack applications using C# and SQL. I also conducted my first penetration tests on simulated environments, using tools like Burp Suite, Metasploit, and Nessus.

After moving to Canada, I earned a Post-Graduate Degree in Project Management – IT from Seneca College, equipping me with the skills to manage tech projects with Agile, Waterfall, and hybrid methodologies. This built a bridge between my technical and leadership abilities. I then pursued a Post-Graduate Degree in Offensive Cybersecurity at York University, where I specialized in real-world adversarial simulations, Active Directory exploitation, and automated exploit development using Python, Go, and PHP. My capstone project involved a full-scale attack simulation, culminating in a 90-page professional report and domain-wide compromise.

Across all my projects — whether I’m securing networks, automating tasks, or building full-stack solutions — I focus on creating experiences that are both functional and secure. I’ve developed WordPress websites with performance and responsiveness in mind, built tools to streamline cybersecurity workflows, and integrated IoT devices with cloud services for real-time data processing. My skill set bridges the gap between offensive security and web development, allowing me to approach challenges from both a builder’s and a breaker’s perspective. With a strong foundation in both code and infrastructure, I’m always excited to take on new technical challenges and collaborative opportunities.
